Hyderabad Traffic Police has launched a special enforcement drive to curb the use of mobile phones while driving or riding.
Despite repeated warnings, many motorists continue to risk their lives by using their phones on the road, according to the officials.

- 80,555 cases were booked for mobile phone usage while driving or riding between January 1 and October 12.
- 2,345 cases were registered during the special drives conducted on October 13 and 14.

Using a mobile phone while driving distracts attention, delays reaction time and remains one of the leading causes of road accidents.
The department has urged motorists to understand the dangers and strictly avoid using phones while driving.
