Condemnation of Attacks Against Yendri Velásquez
The SOS-Torture Network and signatory organisations firmly condemn the attack against Yendri Velásquez, a Venezuelan human rights defender, LGBTIQ+ activist, and asylum seeker in Colombia.
The attack occurred yesterday in the north of Bogota, targeting two Venezuelan citizens, including Velásquez. According to the Defensoría del Pueblo de Colombia, Velásquez and other defenders are seeking international protection due to reprisals and attacks for exercising their right to defend human rights in Venezuela.
