First Piece of Santa Barbara’s More Mesa Permanently Preserved
Santa Barbara County and community partners have vowed to protect 36 acres from housing development pressures in perpetuity.
More Mesa, a 325-acre area of oak woodlands, riparian habitat, and trails, is a nature preserve located just west of Hope Ranch. The new conservation easement will protect a portion of this land, allowing for continued recreational use and park management.
The protected area includes 36 acres on the northwestern edge of More Mesa, which is owned by the county. This move ensures that the space will be preserved from development.
