Maine Gov. Janet Mills has announced her entry into the crowded Democratic race to unseat Republican U.S. Senator Susan Collins.
Mills was reportedly recruited by Democratic Senate leaders after a high-profile confrontation with President Trump in February over transgender athletes.
"My life's work has prepared me for this fight and I'm ready to win,"
In her launch ad, Mills references the confrontation, saying
"This election will be a simple choice: Is Maine going to bow down or stand up? I know my answer."
