Sex buyers on Aurora Avenue in Seattle can expect a warning letter from police

Seattle Tries New Strategy to Deter Sex Buyers

The city of Seattle is introducing a new approach to discourage people from soliciting prostitutes on Aurora Avenue North.

Detectives from the Seattle Police Department's Human Trafficking Unit will send warning letters to the registered owners of vehicles observed engaging with sex workers.

"The purpose of this letter is to serve as a warning to you that persons operating your vehicle were engaged in suspected sexual exploitation activity,"

These "John Letters" are not criminal charges and do not carry any penalty, serving solely as a warning.
