The No. 3 Virginia field hockey team defeated No. 7 Liberty with a score of 1-0, in a defensive match that saw the Cavaliers come out on top.
“Coming off of a loss we really wanted to capitalize on today,”
said Nemec. The Cavaliers needed a win after losing to No. 2 North Carolina last week, and the home game against Liberty provided the perfect opportunity.
The lone goal of the game was scored by graduate midfielder Suze Leemans, off a deflected shot into the circle, eight minutes into the match. The Cavaliers stifled Liberty's attempt at an equalizer in the second half, securing the 1-0 win.
