Thirty original Bob Ross paintings will be sold to offset station licensing fees for American Public Television's Create multicast channel.
The auction, to be held by Bonhams over the next three years, aims to alleviate licensing fees paid by stations for APT's Create channel. Many of the pieces were painted on Ross's series, The Joy of Painting.
My head started ticking away, like, 'Well, this many paintings would equal this much, and this many paintings would equal this much,'
says Joan Kowalski, president of Bob Ross Inc., who conceived the idea after two privately held Ross paintings were sold for around $100,000 each in August.
The sale is expected to provide a significant boost to APT.
Author's summary: Bob Ross paintings will be auctioned to support APT's Create channel.
