Knicks' New Point Guard Retires Unexpectedly
The New York Knicks' plans for veteran depth took an unexpected turn with the retirement of veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Brogdon informed the team of his decision to retire from basketball as they were finalizing their regular-season roster.
Brogdon, 32, was expected to provide leadership and experience as a backup point guard behind Jalen Brunson. Despite injuries limiting him to 24 games last season with the Washington Wizards, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per contest.
His career has been defined by professionalism and consistency, traits the Knicks were hoping to benefit from in 2025-26.
