On Tuesday, October 14, flights at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) were delayed due to a cyber security incident.
The incident started around 5 p.m. and affected the public address systems and screens, displaying pro-Hamas messages.
"Free Palestine" and cursing out U.S.
The messaging was visible and audible throughout the airports for about two minutes.
The YLW team successfully removed the unauthorized messaging and restored flight information display screens, and worked on restoring the PA system.
According to the City of Kelowna, the cyber security incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.
