The state's new top cop, Incoming NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon, has promised to send more police officers to Moree after visiting the town.
Commissioner Lanyon met with local shopkeepers, leaders, including Moree Shire Mayor Susannah Pearse, and crime victim Mick Cikota to "get the pulse from the community and find out how they feel about crime".

Mick Cikota, a motel owner, was allegedly stabbed by a teenager in September after a break-in at his business.
The commissioner's visit resulted in a promise of an extra police presence in the region.
