Shooting at Alcorn State University
A shooting occurred at Alcorn State University, resulting in one death and two injuries.
The university advised those on campus to seek shelter immediately and to not leave that secure location until given an all clear sign by Campus Police.
- The shooting occurred near the Industrial Technology Building on campus at approximately 6:30 p.m.
- Three victims with gunshot wounds were discovered by officers upon arrival to the scene.
- Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods reported that one woman is deceased and two other victims were injured in the shooting.
Alcorn State University Police Chief Doug Stewart has turned the case over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office. No arrests have been made at this time.
