CPS Response to HMCPSI Follow-up Inspection

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has responded to the follow-up inspection report by His Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) on the 2020 joint inspection of evidence-led domestic abuse prosecutions.

The 2020 inspection examined the handling of evidence-led domestic abuse prosecution cases by the police and CPS, resulting in four recommendations for improvement. The follow-up report assesses the progress made by the CPS in implementing these recommendations over the past five years.

HMCPSI's recognition of the progress made to ensure the right mechanisms and frameworks are in place to support effective case handling is encouraging.

Although progress has been made, the CPS acknowledges that more work is needed to fully implement the recommendations. The CPS has conducted work at both local and national levels to address the areas requiring improvement.
