MeitY has no records of IndiaAI Mission’s AI training for citizens and VLEs promised by Ashwini Vaishnaw, an RTI response reveals.
A Right to Information (RTI) request filed by MediaNama was responded to by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), stating that it had “no specific information available on records” regarding the AI training programme.
The ministry had no information on government orders, office memoranda, circulars, or internal communications related to the AI training programme for 10 lakh citizens under the IndiaAI Mission.
In July 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced free AI training to 10 lakh citizens under the IndiaAI Mission, with a focus on Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), but the ministry lacks records on the implementation process or the number of people trained.
