Head of US Military's Southern Command to Step Down

The head of the U.S. Military's Southern Command, Admiral Alvin Holsey, is retiring amid President Donald Trump's "armed conflict" with drug cartels in the Caribbean.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth thanked Admiral Holsey for his service in a post on X. Holsey announced his retirement, effective December 12, after more than 37 years of service.

"I am confident that you will forge ahead, focused on your mission that strengthens our nation and ensures its longevity as a beacon of freedom around the globe,"

Holsey wrote, without explaining the reason for his departure.
