From Fanboy to Hollywood Actor: Yoson An's Journey
Kiwi actor Yoson An shares his story of transitioning from a fanboy watching Chinese soap operas to starring in global hits like Mulan and Plane.
While filming with Gerard Butler for two weeks, Yoson couldn't help but "nerd out" in the cockpit. The Chinese-born Kiwi star still can't believe he worked opposite the legendary actor in the 2023 movie Plane, which topped Netflix charts.
I straight up told Gerry how big a fan I was. I was like, ‘Dude, I grew up watching all your movies!’ I loved him as King Leonidas from 300 and in The Phantom Of The Opera.
Yoson recalls his admiration for Gerard Butler, having sung his Phantom tune Music Of The Night in his musical days, and now has a video of them singing it together.
This is one of many "pinch-me" moments the 33-year-old actor has experienced during his impressive rise to global fame.
