A major organised crime group has been jailed for a multi-million pound drug operation in the North East of the country.
The group's leader, Shaun Monaghan, 45, and his four associates - Bryn Bowden, James White, James Ramshaw, and Stephen Graham - pleaded guilty to their roles in the operation.
The prosecution showed that the group used EncroChat, an encrypted criminal communications network, to coordinate their activities in 2020.
The organised crime group supplied multi-kilo quantities of Class A drugs to drug dealers and possessed dangerous weapons.
