Southern Team Subaru and the Roanoke Valley SPCA hosted a dog adoption event, giving shelter pets a second chance at life.
Earlier this month, the two organizations held a cat adoption event and a free pet vaccine clinic, providing exams, vaccinations, and microchips to 65 animals and helping 17 pets find loving homes.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 5.8 million animals entered U.S. shelters.
The effort is part of "Subaru Loves Pets," a nationwide initiative in which more than 630 Subaru retailers are contributing over $3.1 million this October to support animal shelters and welfare organizations.
Southern Team Subaru awarded a $10,000 grant to the SPCA through the ASPCA to help address the growing need.
