GIRLS GOLF: Dakota’s Monteith keeps rising charts with a bullet

Marissa Monteith's Golf Career on the Rise

Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, has been making a name for herself in girls golf.

It all started when her parents gave her an ultimatum in eighth grade: if she was going to give up softball, she would still have to play a school sport.

"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I’ve played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"

recalled Monteith. She tried out for the golf team in high school and has been rising through the charts ever since.

"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"

she added.

"I wasn’t about to sit around, either."

Author's summary: Marissa Monteith's golf career takes off.
