Vessev, a pioneer in New Zealand foiling ferry technology, has unveiled the VS-Drive, a podded propulsion system poised to redefine electric marine performance.
The VS-Drive is a submersible motor featuring advanced active cooling and custom direct-drive brushless motors in a modular design. It powers the VS-9, a nine-meter battery-electric hydrofoiling catamaran, delivering smooth, silent, and emissions-free journeys.
Company co-founder and CTO Max Olson highlights the internal closed-loop cooling system as a game-changing feature, maintaining motor operating temperatures below 50°C.
The VS-Drive will be scaled to other models in development, including 12 and 18-meter vessels, as well as Vessev's upcoming recreational vessel.
Vessev refers to the VS-Drive as "hydrofoiling's coolest motor", emphasizing its innovative technology.
