Superintendent Larry Huff announced that Elkhart Community Schools will consolidate some buildings due to declining enrollment, rising operational costs, and state funding changes.
During his annual State of the District address on October 15, Huff stated that the school board has authorized a consolidation study to examine 2-4 schools.
A framework for decision-making is expected by the end of the year, with final recommendations potentially reaching the board in spring 2026, and implementation could begin that fall.
