Solihull care home residents team up with schoolchildren for DIY project

Solihull Care Home Residents Collaborate with Schoolchildren on DIY Project

Residents of a Solihull care home worked together with children from Mad Hatters Day Nursery on a DIY project as part of Care UK's 'Fixer Uppers' programme.

Under the guidance of the home's maintenance manager, the residents and children painted and decorated bird boxes in vibrant colours. The bird boxes were previously handcrafted by the residents.

Together, they installed the bird boxes in the garden and outdoor spaces, creating new areas for birds to enjoy.

It was lovely to share my skills and knowledge with the children as we worked together to create and decorate the bird boxes. They loved being there while they were placed on the trees for the birds, ready for winter. - Clifford Glanville

This intergenerational activity allowed the residents to share their skills and knowledge with the children, creating a fun and educational experience for all involved.
