A 26-year-old man from Craigavon was caught driving the day after being banned from the roads.
Michael Devlin, of Clonmeen, was stopped by police in Portadown on August 28 last year.
A defence barrister said the defendant had been in a “toxic” relationship and “didn’t want to make it worse” so he had not told his then partner he had been banned from driving and that was why he got behind the wheel.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan told the defendant:
“I don’t care what the reason was operating in your head but the day after you were disqualified you go and drive again”
The defendant was given a four-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and was banned from driving for a year.
