2025 FIFPRO World XI Shortlist Snubs Caldentey, International Soccer Standouts
The 2025 FIFPRO World XI shortlist was released on Monday, omitting several top soccer stars, including Arsenal and Spain's Mariona Caldentey.
FIFPRO's 2025 Women's World XI shortlist features a 26-player lineup with no USWNT players, marking a two-year streak of the award excluding US athletes, despite the USWNT's Olympic gold win at the 2024 Paris Games.
Notably, Mariona Caldentey, the reigning Champions League winner and 2025 Euro runner-up, was snubbed, despite coming in second at the 2025 Ballon d'Or last month.
The FIFPRO World XI is the only global football award voted on exclusively by soccer players, with this year's nominations dominated by the Euro-winning Lionesses, who received 11 nods.
