Defining the National Interest
The Building Canada Act aims to fast-track projects, but it fails to define the term "national interest" that drives decision-making.
Recently, Prime Minister Mark Carney delivered a pre-budget address, stating that his government has the fiscal capacity to attract significant private investment over the next five years.
Now is not the time to be cautious, because fortune favours the bold.
Carney introduced the first five Projects of National Interest (PONIs) and promised to announce more by mid-November, as part of a plan to stimulate the growth of a new Canadian economy in response to U.S. developments.
