La Quinta Councilmember Steve Sanchez to Run for Riverside County Supervisor

Steve Sanchez, a member of the La Quinta City Council and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, announced his campaign to represent District 4 on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.

Sanchez, a Republican, will challenge incumbent Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, a Democrat, in the election. Although the office is officially nonpartisan, the candidates' party affiliations may play a role in the campaign.

Sanchez vowed to “restore integrity, accountability, and common sense to county government” in his campaign announcement.

Sanchez criticized the recent arrest of Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez, the chief of staff for current Fourth District County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, on charges of conflict of interest and perjury.

Sanchez has been on the city council since 2016 and touted his roles on several regional agencies, saying he's ready to use that experience as a county supervisor.

Author's summary: Steve Sanchez runs for Riverside County supervisor.
