McGowan Named Top Local Player of Past 25 Years
The Standard-Speaker has been recognizing top local high school football players from the past 25 years since August.
Honorees were chosen from eight current teams in the newspaper's coverage area, including Hazleton Area, Crestwood, Marian, Tamaqua, Panther Valley, Mahanoy Area, Shenandoah Valley, and North Schuylkill, as well as from defunct teams Bishop Hafey and Cardinal Brennan.
Players were selected based on their high school football careers, with no consideration given to achievements at higher levels of football.
