Since then, she’s recovered and kept her powder dry, making a high-profile appearance on Taylor Swift’s Florida!!!, a more covert one on The Weeknd’s Reflections Laughing and sneaking out a smattering of covers.
She’s now working alongside Idles guitarist Mark Bowen and Everybody Scream is both a re-statement of what made her so beguiling and a gentle step forwards.
sometimes my body seems so alien to me, she sighs on Kraken, but the wind tunnel that is You Can Have It All and the howling title track could have graced debut album Lungs.
More encouragingly, the epic One Of The Greats, the cascading hooks of Witch Dance and the atypically tender Buckle are signs of an artist broadening her horizons.
