Black and Caribbean cosplayers are redefining what community looks like at New York Comic Con, a gala of geekdom that has been celebrated on the East Coast for 19 years.

The convention has seen a significant increase in attendance, with over 200,000 attendees in 2024 and a 50,000 increase in 2025, making it one of the most highly attended conventions in the U.S.
