London Borough's Policy on Fines for Landlords
The London borough where Rachel Reeves owns a rental property has stated that fines are reserved for landlords who do not respond to warnings.
Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, has been under scrutiny for letting out her family home without the correct licence, which is against the law.
Her letting agent has since apologised and admitted it was partly to blame for the mistake.
According to Southwark Council's private sector housing enforcement policy 2021, Ms Reeves may be liable to repay over £38,000 in rent if a licence is not applied for within 21 days.
