Sault Man Weary of Being in Court

Allan Smythe-Lance, a man with a lengthy criminal record, pleaded guilty to seven offences, including assault, theft, and mischief.

According to assistant Crown attorney Andrew Allen, Smythe-Lance assaulted a man at a Huron Street home on April 13 and also grabbed and strangled a woman at a Letcher Street residence in July.

"I'm getting too old for this," said Smythe-Lance, who apologized for his actions.

Defense counsel Eric McCooeye stated that his client had been doing well since 2019 but relationships caused disruption. Ontario Court Justice Robert Villeneuve enhanced Smythe-Lance's 100 days of pre-sentence custody to 150 days, telling him "only you can decide" to change his ways.

Author's summary: Smythe-Lance pleads guilty to multiple offences.
