Nooksack Valley, Lynden Christian, and Sehome advanced to their respective district championship games, while Meridian, Blaine, and Squalicum lost and are in loser-out matches after district girls soccer semifinal action on Saturday.
Blaine and Nooksack Valley battled in the first of two 1A District 1 semifinal games at Blaine High School, with the Pioneers walking away with a 4-3 victory (3-0 in penalties). Pioneer’s goalkeeper Kayla Wooten made the final save to secure the win.
“She just came off a knee injury,” Nooksack Valley coach Ashley Homer said. “It was her first full game back, and glad to have her back. She made some big-time saves today.”
Nooksack Valley will face Lynden Christian for the district title at 7:30 p.m. Blaine faces Meridian in a loser-out match at 5 p.m.
