Former Miss USA Noelia Voigt voiced her solidarity with Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and other contestants who walked out after being disrespected by a Miss Universe executive.
During the event, Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil insulted Bosch, 25, calling her a "dumb head," a term meaning "fool" or "empty-headed." He continued,
“You must listen to me first, then argue with me.”
Itsaragrisil later apologized, stating,
“I think you must understand the pressure is a lot, I am a human sometimes. By the way, I have not intend[ed] to hurt anyone.”
Voigt, 26, expressed her shock and disappointment after seeing the video online. On Instagram, she wrote:
“When I woke up yesterday morning and saw the video circulating across the internet showing what happened, I was shocked, disgusted, disappointed and genuinely horrified.”
As a former Miss USA 2023 who stepped down from her title due to mental health concerns in May 2024, she empathizes deeply with the contestants’ feelings. She added,
“I understand what it feels like when your voice is dismissed and your dignity is demeaned.”
