UC Berkeley Conservative Students Continue TPUSA Event in Honor of Charlie Kirk

Conservative students at the University of California, Berkeley, one of the nation’s most liberal campuses, are moving forward with a Turning Point USA event originally set to be headlined by founder Charlie Kirk before his assassination.

“The day of our first meeting where we were going to announce that Charlie was coming to campus was the day that he was assassinated,” said John Paul Leon, a junior at UC Berkeley and president of the university’s Turning Point USA chapter, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Leon explained that since Kirk’s death, he has collaborated closely with both the university administration and the national Turning Point USA organization to ensure the event continues as planned.

Replacing Kirk: Guest Speakers Announced

The event will now feature comedian and filmmaker Rob Schneider along with Christian author Frank Turek, appearing in place of Kirk.

Event Date and Safety Measures

Scheduled for November 10, exactly two months after Kirk was assassinated on September 10 during his “American Comeback Tour” at Utah Valley University, the Berkeley chapter will host a stop of the “This Is the Turning Point” tour.

Leon did not reveal specific security details but confirmed that the event will enforce a no-bag policy and strict safety protocols for attendees and speakers.

“Internally, we’re spending lots of time to ensure that security is really tight and well-coordinated, with meetings solely dedicated to safety,” Leon added.

Campus Reaction

In the wake of Kirk’s death, Leon described the atmosphere on campus as somber but emphasized that students are determined to move forward to honor his legacy and continue his mission.

Author’s Summary: Despite the tragedy of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, UC Berkeley’s conservative students are resolutely hosting a TPUSA event to preserve his message and legacy.
