Heat across the continent is now hitting forty in a plethora of cities. An advisory was first issued in the Netherlands when temps rose above seven-and-thirty, and officials have kept it in place through Saturday. In Amsterdam people are hanging curtains outside to keep the harsh sun out. The scorching weather is stressing homes built for colder months.
Officials say more than 1300 extra deaths have been linked to the heat across places. Nighttime levels stay high, experts say. They urge everyone to drink water, stay out of the sun at the worst times and find shade.
