Donike Gocaj has died after tumbling into an uncovered manhole while leaving her Mercedes-Benz on a Midtown Manhattan street; authorities say she was unconscious when responders arrived and she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is determining the official cause of death. Con Edison is reviewing why the manhole cover was left uncovered. Local witnesses said she cried out for help as responders attempted the rescue on the scene.
