Port Talbot station appeared at a modern enclosed footbridge with ticket office and waiting areas plus CCTV and elevators to every platform as part of a regeneration scheme linked to Wales Station Improvement Scheme. The upgrade facilities for park-and-ride and more car parking, along with improved facilities for cyclists, buses, and taxis. linked to wider Port Talbot regeneration efforts such as Harbourside development and town-centre upgrades. Funding came from a mix of the Welsh Government, Network Rail, and EU and other funds, with Neath Port Talbot Council and local transport partners.
Buses will replace trains between Port Talbot Parkway and Swansea for 12 days from the end of January as Network Rail carries out essential upgrades to the railway.
