Young woman and child hospitalized after road accident
Emergency services rushed to Whalley Road in Clayton-le-Moors around 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, following a collision involving a car and two pedestrians.
Lancashire Police confirmed the victims were a woman in her twenties and a child, both taken to hospital by ambulance. The incident led to the closure of Whalley Road in both directions between Adelaide Street and Hill Street, causing heavy traffic delays for several hours.
"Avoid Whalley Road near the vets and premier, there’s been an accident. Police and ambulance on scene. Road has been blocked off just after the bridge."
The road was reopened at approximately 9:30 p.m. No arrests have been made, and police are asking for witnesses or anyone with video footage of the area to come forward.
