A woman and a child drowned after falling into Dandenong Creek near Allan Street this afternoon.
A witness reported seeing two people swept away around 3:45 PM. It is believed the woman tried to rescue the child but both got into trouble in the water.
Police searched the area and found the unconscious pair. Emergency responders pulled them from the water and began CPR, but unfortunately, they could not be revived and were declared deceased at the scene.
The identities of the victims have not been released. Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
