The Australian government has rejected a visa application from Steven van de Velde, a Dutch beach volleyball player and convicted rapist.
Van de Velde was sentenced to four years in jail in 2016 for pleading guilty to three counts of raping a 12-year-old girl he met on social media in 2014.
He was set to compete in the world championships in Adelaide, starting on November 14, but the Australian government's decision bans him from entering the country.
