Maxim Pleshko: Lukashenko Is Only A Performer
Lithuania has announced the indefinite closure of its border with Belarus following a series of incidents involving weather probes, which have caused several suspensions at Vilnius airport.
Maxim Pleshko, a candidate of philosophical sciences and head of the Ukrainian Center for Belarusian Communications, commented on the situation:
What is happening is hardly accidental. It is a purposeful operation of hybrid pressure.
According to Pleshko, the weather probes could be used for various purposes, including testing air defense systems and practicing radar avoidance routes. He describes this as a classic "probing" tactic, which is a form of provocation without direct responsibility.
Possible uses of the weather probes include:
- Smuggling, using cheap unmanned platforms equipped with containers
- Testing air defense systems and aviation reactions
- Practicing radar avoidance routes
