Mark Carney’s Liberal Government to Table First Budget
The minority Liberal government, led by Mark Carney, will table its first budget today, with Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne indicating that there will be no surprises for opposition parties.
Champagne has not secured the support of opposition parties for the budget, which is expected to be tabled around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pre-Budget Tradition
As part of the pre-budget tradition, Champagne bought new shoes from Boulet Boots in Saint-Tite, Que., a family-owned business that specializes in cowboy boots.
According to the company’s webpage, the firm has since branched out to specialize in cowboy boots and continues to be owned by the same family.
The budget is anticipated to be presented without any major surprises for opposition parties, as suggested by the Finance Minister.
