U of T to mark Remembrance Day across its three campuses on Nov. 11

University of Toronto Observes Remembrance Day Across Campuses

The University of Toronto community will come together on November 11 to observe Remembrance Day, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Events are organized across all three campuses to honor soldiers and veterans from the First and Second World Wars, as well as other conflicts. Everyone in the U of T community is invited to attend.

Flags on all campuses will be lowered to half-mast to pay tribute to those who served, including U of T students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Remembrance Ceremony at U of T St. George

The central Service of Remembrance will be held at Soldiers’ Tower on the St. George campus. The program begins at 10:10 a.m. with a carillon recital by composer and performer Naoko Tsujita, followed by the official ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m.

This solemn event honors the sacrifices made by servicemen and women in past conflicts and reflects on Canada’s contributions to global peace.

Events at U of T Scarborough and Mississauga

Similar Remembrance Day ceremonies will take place at the Scarborough and Mississauga campuses, with programs designed to pay tribute to veterans and fallen soldiers.

All members of the university community are encouraged to participate in these commemorations.
