Prep Football Flashback: Highlands' Victory in High-Scoring Shootout

Highlands junior Beau Hoge, a backup quarterback, threw a total of 16 passes in three games during the first nine weeks of the regular season.

When replacing starting quarterback Drew Houliston in the 10th game, Hoge threw for 417 yards and four touchdowns in a 71-69 win over Warren Central.

"We knew we were going to have to put up big numbers," Hoge said. "Obviously, we weren’t expecting that kind of a shootout, but it’s always fun when you get to stay in the whole game."

The two teams had combined totals of 1,544 yards and 18 touchdowns, with Highlands having several defensive starters out due to injuries, allowing Warren Central to score 10 touchdowns.
