Supreme Court Gives Vodafone Idea a Reprieve
Vodafone Idea welcomed the decision, looking forward to working with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to resolve the matter for its 200 million subscribers.
The Supreme Court allowed the! DoT to reassess Vodafone Idea's adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, citing "peculiar facts and circumstances" of the case.
This move may enable the debt-laden telecom service provider to recalibrate its long-standing dues, which have heavily impacted its financial health.
The issue now lies within the policy framework of the Centre.
A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai stated there was no reason to bar the Union government from reassessing the amount claimed from Vodafone Idea.
