The Trump administration has announced that no federal food aid will be distributed on November 1.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture posted a notice on its website stating that benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will not be issued on November 1.
“Bottom line, the well has run dry,”
The program, which helps approximately 1 in 8 Americans buy groceries, will not receive funding from the $5 billion in contingency funds. The government shutdown, which began on October 1, is now the second-longest on record.
