We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as winds have died down. This morning, we’re experiencing some passing lake rain showers, but chances for rain should end by the afternoon. Expect partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s. Winds are calmer with strongest gusts around 20 MPH.
Winds will pick up again tomorrow ahead of another front, bringing gusts up to 30 MPH and rain in the afternoon and evening. Saturday will be cool and cloudy with calmer winds.
On Sunday, a low-pressure system will pass by, bringing rain and snow across the lake. Cold air wrapping around the system Sunday night will give us our first chance for snow, especially in higher elevations.
Monday however, a punch of cold Canadian air makes its way deep into the US, and we are likely to see at least some lake flakes as the wind comes out of the north.
Tuesday offers a better chance for lake effect snow from Lake Ontario as winds shift out of the northwest. While significant accumulations are not expected, timing and amounts will be clearer in the coming days. Both Monday and Tuesday will remain cold, with highs not exceeding the 30s.
A clipper system will move through Wednesday, bringing rain and breezy winds.
Stay tuned for updates on snow chances and timing as the week progresses.
Summary: A mainly dry and cool day precedes the first chance of snow Sunday night, with cold air and lake effect snow possible early next week, followed by breezy conditions midweek.
